Happy Valentine's Day!!

"Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning." -Author Unknown

With that quote in mind, I am celebrating Valentine's Day this year with this man (and the two little guys in his arms) and cherishing everything he has brought into my life.

And because I am not one to be serious for too long, how about this quote from Jay Leno?
"Today is Valentine's Day. Or, as men like to call it, Extortion day."

Things don't really go on like around here since we usually just exchange cards and have a nice meal, but it still makes me laugh!

Our meal, today, since I'm sharing, will be flank steak stuffed with spinach, tomatoes and feta and for dessert, I am making this:

from Our Best Bites.  My husband has been talking about Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie since I met him and considering how much I love to bake, its amazing I've never made it for him (or tried it ever myself)  Doesn't it look divine?!

Continuing on the same Valentine's theme, I bought my two little ones balloons today for the holiday.  It is incredible windy today here and my oldest son lost his balloon to the wind.  I ran across the yard through calf deep snow and up a tree to get it, only to turn around and see that my other son's balloon got blown out of the car through an open door.  I started to run after that one too, hit some ice, slipped and was on my back in a split second.  I just laid my head down on the ice (after I looked around to see if any neighbors witnessed that whole spectacle) for a while and considered whether I really wanted to get up and continue with the day.  Thankfully, that was our only slip up (pardon the pun) for the day (so far).

Also, our dishwasher is on its way out.  Only the dishes on the bottom rack get cleaned now.  I suppose this is a blessing in disguise since our current dishwasher is pretty darn ugly and really aggravating.  Since we've moved, I've had to use kid gloves to touch the top rack.  Pull too hard on it, it falls off the hinges, along with everything loaded on it.  Same thing if I pull to one side slightly or up slightly or if I happen to look at it just a little funny.  I haven't proven that last one yet, but I almost certain its true.
Here she is:

Hopefully, she doesn't completely die tomorrow after all the bad mouthing I am doing today...

So, I am starting to research dishwashers.  Anyone have one they love and want to recommend?  I am pretty certain that we want stainless.  Our refrigerator is also on its last legs...it freezes everything in the drawers, no matter how we play with the thermostat.  I don't know why my appliances hate me so.
Really, though, if you have a dishwasher you love, I'd love to hear about it...

Happy 14th of February Everyone!

Oh, I almost forgot!  The beadboard is in and it is FABULOUS!  I am starting to paint it today and I can't wait to show it to you!

  2. Oh my goodness, I'm laughing out loud at your whole situation today, sorry. You sound exactly like me and my kids....and unruley appliances! I wish I took a picture of my old dishwasher, and stove, and refridgerator....they were hideous, but I'm one of those girls that won't replace it unless it's broke. Thank God they all broke! We bought a Whirlpool Gold dishwasher & fridge, and a Frigidaire Gallery oven, all stainless and they are WONDERFUL!
